He's been on his own American odyssey for the last three years.

So perhaps it was only a matter of time before David Beckham decided to explore his adopted country in true Easy Rider style.

The former England captain, 35, could almost have slotted straight into the 1969 film starring Dennis Hopper as he sped along California’s ocean roads, pausing to admire the view and take pictures.

But there was one very modern addition to the scene - his £55,000 limited edition F131 Hellcat Combat bike, made by The Confederate Motor Company, famous for creating machines that are said to ‘celebrate and embody the true American spirit’.

Beckham’s celebrity friend, actor Tom Cruise, 48, is reported to also own the same bike and has added it to his extensive collection
Beckham, meanwhile, already has a Harley V-Rod.

Another Beckham cohort, chef Gordon Ramsay joked a few years ago that the footballer would have to buy

something ‘a bit meatier’ if he wanted to join him and Top Gun star Cruise on a bike trek around America - and even offered to buy his friend a better bike.

The Hell’s Kitchen star owns a rare £40,000 Ducati Desmosedici that he only rides on a racetrack due to its super high speed and was spotted taking a Ducati Monster 1100 out for a test drive in August.

Beckham has also reportedly bought wife Victoria, 36, motorbike lessons in a bid to get her interested in his new passion.

The footballer, who plays for LA Galaxy, has embraced the American lifestyle with open arms.

Earlier this year, he said: ‘My sons go to school here, we’re all happy living here, so I can’t see us moving.’
