She's Purr-ty in purple: Katy Perry wore a vibrant dress as she launched her debut fragrance Purr in Selfridges in London this afternoon
As a newlywed, you would expect Katy Perry to take some time off and enjoy married life with new husband Russell Brand.
But the 26-year-old singer is doing nothing of the sort, and seems to be keeping busier than ever.
Today, Katy looked pretty in an unusual purple dress as she launched her debut fragrance Purr at London's department store Selfridges.
Feline pretty: Katy teamed the dress with black tights and heels for the launch
The Teenage Dream singer smiled widely as she held up a bottle of the scent, which comes in a cat-shaped bottle embellished with diamantes, as she posed for photographers at the launch.
She also posed in front of a huge cardboard advert for the scent, which shows her crawling around in a tight catsuit, complete with a tail and ears, alongside a huge ball of hot pink yarn.
Afterwards, Katy took the time to meet some of the dedicated fans who had queued up in a bid to catch a glimpse of their idol.
Advertising campaign: Katy posed in front of a huge cardboard advert for the perfume, featuring her wearing a tight rubber catsuit
Messing around: Katy certainly got into the spirit of things at the launch
While Katy is slightly late joining the celebrity perfume market, she says she was delighted when she was asked to create her own fragrance.
She explained: 'My sense of smell is so important to me. A guy can walk into an elevator wearing Acqua di Gio, and I’m immediately like "You’re my first boyfriend." I want my fragrance to have that effect on people.
'I really wanted to develop a scent that was completely unlike anything I'd smelled before and not one that smelled like a knockoff of another scent.'
Meeting the fans: Katy caught up with some dedicated fans who had waited for hours in a bid to catch a glimpse of their idol
Popular: Selfridges was flooded with eager fans supporting the singer
Explaining why she had decided to call the perfume Purr, Katy said: '’m a very lyrical-based person, and the whole ‘purr’ thing kept coming back - perfume, perfect, even Perry if you say it a certain way. It just seemed logical.'
Purr features the scents of peach, apple, green bamboo, jasmine, freesia, Bulgarian rose, vanilla orchid, white amber, sandalwood and musk.
And it seems while Purr is Katy's first fragrance, it is almost certain not to be her last.
She laughed: 'I am a product w****. I am a consumer of a multitude of beauty products and I’m always looking for the next great thing.'
