Katy Perry was very heavily made up as she attended the launch of her new perfume, Purr, today in Mexico City
Katy Perry’s fantasy pin-up girl good looks appear to be held together with enough make-up to make a pageant queen from Texas blush.
The 26-year-old was in Mexico City today launching her first perfume ‘Purr by Katy Perry.’ She arrived in the Mexican capital Saturday tweeting ‘Hola Mexxxico City! I can’t wait to see your gorgeous faces and launch Purr!’
However as the California Gurl took centre stage at a Press conference, the singer revealed an extremely heavily made-up look having apparently plastered make-up on in earnest in a bid to cover any blemishes.
What a difference: Katy seen, left, make-up free in a Twitter picture posted by husband Russell Brand in December and, right, appearing rather orange with a thick layer of foundation covering her blemishes
And in a certain light, the new Mrs Brand's thick mask-like covering was all too clear to see.
While the quantity of make-up is still questionable the uneven texture of Katie’s face nods to less than perfect skin and an attempt to cover the imperfections with heavy concealer and foundation.
The newlywed’s husband, Russell Brand, 35, ended 2010 by posting a picture of his new bride on his Twitter without any make-up on.
Smell of success: The singer poses with a bottle of Purr by Katy Perry, the first fragrance she's launched
Perhaps the comedian was playing a joke on his unsuspecting wife? Regardless, Katie was not amused and the photo was taken down almost as quickly as it went up.
Kate has talked candidly about her insecurities where her looks are involved in the past opening up in the August 2010 issue of Seventeen Magazine where she revealed: ‘I don’t really feel pretty ever. Without make-up I feel ugly.
'And so I would have to sleep with make-up on or feel ugly or gross.’
She is, however, learning to look past her own insecurities with the help of Russell. Kate says of Russell: ‘I think he taught me a lot about inner beauty and confidence in myself.
Not ready for her close up: The star donned an incredibly short, asymmetrical purple dress which showed off her enviably long legs
Entertainer: Perry performed on a purple-carpeted stage next to a pool before teams of photographers
Katie’s lyrics in her hit song, Teenage Dream, are obviously in tribute to her beloved husband Russell who does, in fact, think Katie is ‘pretty without any makeup on’.
The raunchy comedian and minster’s daughter sealed their unlikely union last October in a lavish private ceremony in India complete with two elephants to escort the happy couple down the aisle.
Shunning a traditional ceremony, the couple’s rep revealed to People Magazine that the romantic pair had a ‘very private and spiritual ceremony, attended by the couple’s closest family and friends.’
When asked about starting a family in the near future, Katie stated that she can’t wait to start being a mother saying: ‘I don’t want to miss out on any experience. I want lots of children.’
