Home alone: Cheryl Cole arrives at Heathrow Airport on Sunday evening after her 10 hour flight from Los Angeles
She fled to Los Angeles to rest and recuperate following her battle with malaria and to escape the fallout of her marriage breakdown.
But just two days after her 'quickie' divorce from Ashley Cole was granted, a newly single Cheryl Tweedy finally returned home to England after more than a month abroad.
The singer managed to change outfits mid-Atlantic before she arrived at Heathrow Airport this evening with a huge trolley full of luggage.
Heavy load: Cheryl's entourage loaded her extra large suitcases into a car
Cheryl was flanked by security guards and a heavy entourage as she made her way through LAX airport on Saturday night to board her 10 hour flight back to the UK.
Dressed in grey trousers, a leather jacket and a Marilyn Monroe printed T-shirt, the 27-year-old also showcased a new, Farrah Fawcett-inspired flicked hairstyle, after having her extensions put back in.
The Parachute singer has left LA just as close friend and confidante Derek Hough returns to work on the new series of US Dancing With the Stars.
Cheryl is also getting back in to work mode, arriving in the UK in time to film the next stage of The X Factor at the judges' homes. Cheryl will film her segments at a luxury £4.5million mansion in Dorset, according to the Sunday express.
Homeward bound: Cheryl Cole arrives at LAX with her security an entourage to catch a flight home to the UK
Conflicting reports in the UK claim that Cheryl was due to shoot in other exotic locations such as Dubai or Paris, but producers decided it was too risky given her recent illness.
The Sunday Mirror also claims the star asked to host her contestants in Los Angeles, where she has resided for over four weeks, but X Factor bosses turned her down, determining it would be too costly.
Cheryl will remain in the UK until the X Factor season wraps up in December, but will waste no time in returning to the US, according to reports.
Simon Cowell has hinted that Cheryl will almost certainly join him on the panel for the US version of the X Factor, while the News of the World claims she will quit the UK talent show after this season.
'She wouldn't have time to do both of the X Factors plus release new songs,' the paper quotes a close source. 'She's got her heart set on America where Derek lives.'
Fawcett flicks: Cheryl debuted a new Charlies Angels-inspired 'do, with curled extensions and oversized sunglasses
Star treatment: The singer, pictured chatting to airport staff, will resume X Factor duties next week
Cheryl's rumoured departure may come as a relief to Dannii Minogue, after reports in recent weeks cast a cloud of doubt over the new mother’s return to the series next year.
The newspaper quoted an X Factor source who says: 'There's no way we can face the possibility of losing both our female judges in one go. So if Cheryl goes, Dannii's safe.'
After appearing glued to each other's sides in recent months, Cheryl and Derek's separation will be an adjustment for the pair, who remain tight-lipped on the status of their relationship.
They became close when Derek appeared as a backing dancer in the video for her single Parachute, and travelled to Tanzania together, where Cheryl contracted the Malaria disease.
Back to Work: Cheryl has flown out just as Derek Hough returns to work on the new series of US Dancing With the stars. his partner is Dirty Dancing star Jennifer Grey
A reportedly guilt-ridden Derek nursed the singer through the illness and she flew out to be with him in LA at the end of July.
The Sunday Mirror today reports that in gratitude, Cheryl has splashed out on a £42,000 Audi S5 coupé for the 25-year-old, which they have been pictured driving through LA in recently.
The paper also claims that Cheryl has spoken to X Factor producers about bringing Derek on as an advisor and choreographer for the series, as she values his opinion and wants him to help her choose acts to send through to the final.
But with the dancer and choreographer busy with his Dancing With the Stars commitments in the US, it doesn't look as though her hopes will be realised.
Future in doubt: Cheryl will return to work on the X Factor this week, but is rumoured to be quitting after this series to appear as a judge on the US version
